Large Antique Jugs Are Popular

I took some time off and went out to see what the buyers are collecting these days. I was surprised to find that the old...'What goes around, comes around', is in full swing again. I will be writing about quite a few fun things collectors are seeking, but to start with I will give you the heads up on 'Jug' collecting.

Large Antique Jugs Collectors are Buying

They are hot..hot hot! The bigger the antique jug the better. They are being for everything from stand alone eye catchers, to grouped antiqued jugs. Some are actually purchasing them for storing home made wine in, while others were found to be buying them from a particular company and collecting as many as they can find. Antique Jugs seem to draw the consumer in quickly. Nobody really understands why, but they do have a certain nostalgia about them. The designs are often interesting, as is shown in the Corn Cob jug. Simplicity of lines, along with coloring can also be the perfect accent to nail a decorating dilemma. The Red-ware Jugs are pop out brilliant, but not so much that they overwhelm the room. Add a few pieces and see if it isn't the perfect touch to an otherwise drab niche in the room.

One large antique jug can easily be used alone, but groupings are really eye poppers. Using three different sizes of jugs make a very interesting display for a conversation piece.

Figural jugs such as the Corn Cob jug are getting harder to find, but if you are a clever collector you can find them Online at several sites, which allow you to bid, buy outright, or put in a request to watch for them.

The antique jugs found on eBay range from small to large and are certainly much lower in cost then those I found being sold at store front antique stores. The variety is outstanding. Below are examples of live auctions or buy it now antique jugs.
